It is strongly advised not to drink alcohol while taking Accutane (isotretinoin). Both Accutane and alcohol are processed by the liver, and combining them can significantly increase the risk of liver damage, elevated triglyceride levels, and pancreatitis. Drinking alcohol on Accutane can also worsen side effects such as dehydration, skin dryness, and photosensitivity, and may negatively impact mental health, including raising the risk of depression. Doctors typically recommend avoiding alcohol completely during the entire course of Accutane treatment and for some time after finishing it to allow the drug to clear from the system safely.
