Prop 50 in California has passed. It authorizes a temporary redraw of California’s congressional map by state lawmakers for the 2026 cycle to improve Democrats’ standing, with the expectation of countering GOP redistricting efforts elsewhere (notably Texas). The measure is intended to be in place only until a new map is drawn by the independent commission after the 2030 Census.
