Green Bay is a city located in the northeastern part of the state of Wisconsin, United States. It is situated where the Fox River empties into Green Bay, an inlet of Lake Michigan. The city is about 110 miles north of Milwaukee and is the county seat of Brown County. Green Bay is known for being the home of the Green Bay Packers, a famous NFL football team, and is an important industrial and transportation hub in the region. It is also the oldest city in Wisconsin, founded in 1634 as a fur trading post by French explorer Jean Nicolet. The metropolitan area includes nearby cities and villages such as De Pere, Ashwaubenon, Howard, and Allouez.
