Loch Lomond is about 36.4 kilometers (22.6 miles) long and between 1 and 8 kilometers (approximately 0.75 to 5 miles) wide. It has a surface area of about 71 square kilometers (27.5 square miles), making it the largest lake in Great Britain by surface area. The loch reaches a maximum depth of roughly 190 meters (623 feet), mostly in the northern part, while the southern portion is much shallower. Its total water volume is approximately 2.6 cubic kilometers (0.62 cubic miles), making it the second largest by volume in Great Britain after Loch Ness.
