Four planes were involved in the 9/11 attacks. Nineteen terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners:
- American Airlines Flight 11 was flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
- United Airlines Flight 175 was flown into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
- American Airlines Flight 77 was flown into the Pentagon.
- United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers attempted to overpower the hijackers. It was believed to be headed for either the U.S. Capitol or the White House.
These four planes and events constituted the coordinated terrorist attacks of 9/11.
