You should scoop a litter box at least once or twice daily. Most experts recommend scooping 1-2 times a day to keep the box clean, reduce odors, and encourage your cat to use the box properly. Some cat owners scoop multiple times a day, especially if they have more than one cat or want to keep the box very fresh. If daily scooping is difficult, scooping at least every other day is a minimum, but less frequent scooping can lead to odor issues and health or behavior problems in cats.
In addition to scooping, the entire litter box should be deep cleaned and the litter fully replaced roughly once a week or monthly for best hygiene.
