Tylenol, the brand name for a medication containing acetaminophen (paracetamol), was introduced in 1955 by McNeil Laboratories. This makes Tylenol about 70 years old as of 2025. The brand was created to offer a fever reducer for children and was marketed with a distinctive red fire truck packaging and the slogan "for little hotheads." Johnson & Johnson acquired McNeil Laboratories in 1959 and made Tylenol available over the counter in 1960.
