To clean aluminium effectively:
- Start with warm water and mild dish soap or detergent to remove dirt and grime. Use a soft cloth or sponge to gently scrub the surface.
- For tougher stains or oxidation, apply a paste made from equal parts cream of tartar and water or a mixture of vinegar and water. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then scrub gently with a soft-bristled brush or sponge.
- Tomato ketchup can also be used due to its acidic content. Apply a layer on the aluminum, leave it for 10-15 minutes, then wipe off and rinse.
- Rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a clean, soft cloth to avoid water spots and streaks.
- For heavily oxidized aluminium, commercial aluminium cleaners are available.
- Optional: After cleaning, apply aluminium polish or wax to restore shine and add protection.
Avoid abrasive materials that can scratch, and always test cleaning solutions on a small area first. Regular cleaning can maintain aluminium's appearance and prevent oxidation buildup.
