Deleting Secure Folder depends on your device and whether you want to keep the data inside it. The most common case is Samsung Galaxy phones, so the steps below focus on that.
First check: what device?
- If you are on a Samsung Galaxy (Android), use the “Secure Folder” feature steps below.
- If you use something else (Windows PC “Secure Folder” app, third‑party locker, etc.), say what device/app you have so the steps can be adjusted.
Samsung Secure Folder: keep files
These steps remove Secure Folder but move your photos/files out first so you do not lose data.
- Open Settings on your Samsung phone.
- Go to “Security and privacy” (or “Biometrics and security” / “Lock screen and security” on older versions).
- Tap “Secure Folder” and unlock it with PIN/pattern/fingerprint.
- Tap the menu in Secure Folder → “Settings” → “More settings”.
- Choose “Uninstall” and, when asked, select the option like “Move media files out of Secure Folder” or “Back up and uninstall”.
- Confirm to uninstall.
After this, Secure Folder is removed and your chosen files are placed back into normal storage or your backup account.
Samsung Secure Folder: delete everything
If you want everything inside Secure Folder permanently removed:
- Open Settings → Security/Biometrics → Secure Folder.
- Unlock Secure Folder.
- Go to Secure Folder → Settings → More settings → Uninstall.
- This time, do not choose any “move out” or “backup” option; just pick “Uninstall” or “Erase” and confirm.
All apps and data inside Secure Folder are then deleted and cannot be recovered unless separately backed up.
If you forgot the Secure Folder password
- On many Samsung phones, you can go to Settings → Apps → Secure Folder → Storage and clear data to reset the feature, though details vary by model and software version.
- You may need to sign in with the Samsung or Google account that was linked to Secure Folder to remove or reset it, especially on newer devices.
If you reply with your exact phone model or say whether this is on a PC or phone, the instructions can be narrowed down further.
