There are two main ways to join the Crimson Fleet faction in Starfield:
- Get caught committing a crime such as stealing or carrying contraband in United Colonies (UC) space. When arrested, you are given an undercover mission by the UC Vanguard commander to infiltrate the Crimson Fleet. Completing this mission and the follow-up "Rook Meets King" mission officially joins you to the Crimson Fleet.
- Alternatively, you can join the UC Vanguard faction legitimately, progress through some of their missions, and then receive the undercover assignment to infiltrate the Crimson Fleet starting with the "Deep Cover" mission. After this, you proceed as above.
The Crimson Fleet is a faction of space pirates, so joining them involves either undercover work through the UC Vanguard or getting arrested for illegal activities, making the process morally complex and not a simple sign-up. They are headquartered on a repurposed space prison called The Key in the Kryx System. Joining the Crimson Fleet opens access to unique missions and vendors with special items. Summary:
- Commit crime or join UC Vanguard to get undercover mission.
- Complete "Deep Cover" and "Rook Meets King" to join Crimson Fleet.
- Pirate faction with bases in Kryx System.
This process means you can't simply sign up; you have to either be arrested or go undercover with the Vanguard first for official membership.
