To split screen Fortnite on Xbox, follow these steps:
- Ensure you have two Xbox controllers connected to the console.
- Both players must have their own Xbox accounts, each linked to an Epic Games account. Guest or quick play accounts are not supported.
- Start Fortnite on the Xbox with the first controller logged into the main account.
- At the main menu or pregame lobby, turn on the second controller.
- Press and hold the Xbox button on the second controller to sign in with the second Xbox account.
- In Fortnite, a prompt should appear for player 2 to press and hold the "A" button to join.
- Once player 2 joins, you will see both characters in the Fortnite lobby, ready to play split screen.
- Choose a game mode that supports split screen, such as Duos or Squads (solo or other limited-time modes do not support split screen).
- Both players select "Ready" and start the game split screen on the same Xbox.
Note: If the second account has never played Fortnite before, it may be necessary to play a solo game once on that account before split screen works. This process works for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S consoles.
