To take a screenshot on a Windows computer, multiple easy methods exist:
- Press the Windows key + PrtScn (Print Screen) to capture the entire screen and automatically save the screenshot to the "Pictures > Screenshots" folder. The screen will briefly dim to confirm the capture.
- Press PrtScn alone to capture the entire screen and copy it to the clipboard. Then paste it into an image editor like Paint and save manually.
- Use Alt + PrtScn to capture just the active window and copy it to the clipboard for pasting.
- Use the Windows key + Shift + S to open the Snipping Tool where you can select the area, window, or full screen to capture. The image is copied to the clipboard and you get a notification to edit or save it.
- The Game bar (Windows key + G) also allows screenshot capture in games or other apps, with a default shortcut of Windows key + Alt + PrtScn.
For Android devices, usually pressing the Power button + Volume down button simultaneously takes a screenshot. Some devices have additional gesture or quick-tap methods depending on manufacturer.
