To track steps on an iPhone, the phone uses a built-in pedometer that records steps through accelerometer data. Here is how to do it:
- Open the Health app on your iPhone (this app is pre-installed).
- On the Summary page, you might see the "Steps" data directly. If not, tap the "Browse" tab at the bottom.
- Under "Browse," select "Activity," then tap "Steps" to view detailed step count information.
- You can add "Steps" to your favorites in the Health app for quick access on the Summary page.
- The app shows daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly step counts along with graphs and more detailed activity data.
Make sure your iPhone’s Motion & Fitness tracking is enabled under Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness. The iPhone accurately counts steps as long as it's carried on the person during walking or running activities, using its accelerometer sensor to detect movement.
