To turn off Safe Search on X (formerly Twitter), follow these steps:
- Open the X website (x.com) and sign in to your account.
- Tap your profile picture in the top left corner to open the menu.
- Select "Settings and privacy."
- Go to "Privacy and safety."
- Under this, find and select "Content you see."
- Enable the option "Display media that may contain sensitive content" to see sensitive content in your feed.
- Then go to "Search settings."
- Make sure the checkbox next to "Hide sensitive content" is unchecked to disable Safe Search in search results.
If sensitive content still doesn't show up after these steps, try using a VPN to connect to the US or Western Europe where restrictions are typically less strict. This will disable Safe Search and allow viewing of sensitive content in your feed and search on X across devices. Note that on iPhones, this setting cannot be changed within the app directly but must be done via a web browser. These instructions cover desktop, mobile browsers, and the app indirect method for iPhone users.
