To use Smart Compose in Gmail, first ensure it is enabled in your settings. On a computer, open Gmail, go to Settings > See all settings > General tab, then scroll down to "Smart Compose" and select "Writing suggestions on." On mobile devices (Android/iOS), go to Menu > Settings > Your account > General > Smart Compose and turn it on. When composing an email, Smart Compose will suggest words or phrases in a light gray text as you type. To accept a suggestion, press the Tab key (on desktop) or tap the suggestion (on mobile). If you want to ignore a suggestion, just keep typing, and it will be overwritten. You can also personalize Smart Compose to better match your writing style by enabling personalization in the settings, or turn it off to receive generic suggestions. Smart Compose supports multiple languages and works to speed up email writing by predicting common phrases, sentence starters, and even offers contextually relevant suggestions like greetings or closings.
