Ser Duncan the Tall, commonly known as "Dunk," is a notable character from the world of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms," set in George R. R. Martin’s Westeros. He was a hedge knight born around 193 AC in Flea Bottom, a poor district of King's Landing. Dunk stood nearly seven feet tall, using his imposing size and strength to his advantage from childhood. He became the squire of Ser Arlan of Pennytree, a hedge knight, and later was knighted himself after Ser Arlan’s death. Dunk’s adventures include traveling Westeros with Prince Aegon (later King Aegon V Targaryen), who became his squire and close friend. Duncan earned his moniker "the Tall" due to his height and became the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard under King Aegon V. He was known for his humble origins, strength, integrity, and skill with a sword and mace. His life ended tragically in the fire at Summerhall alongside King Aegon V and others. Dunk's story is deeply woven into Westerosi lore, highlighting themes of honor, friendship, and social mobility through knightly valor.
