The Simple Key in Hollow Knight is an item used to unlock doors with simple locks. It breaks after a single use and can be found or bought in various locations:
- Can be purchased from shopkeeper Sly in Dirtmouth for 950 Geo.
- Found in the City of Tears near the City Storerooms stag station.
- Located in Ancient Basin inside the corpse of a large Mawlurk.
- Obtained by defeating the Pale Lurker in a hidden area behind the Colosseum of Fools.
Simple Keys unlock doors such as:
- Entrance to the Royal Waterways from the City of Tears.
- A cave to the right of Dirtmouth, past the graveyard.
- Entrance to the Pleasure Room.
- The Godseeker's Cocoon in the Junk Pit.
- Jiji's House in Dirtmouth, which is useful for summoning the Knight's Shade after dying.
Each key can be used on any of these locked doors but is consumed upon use, so keys are somewhat limited.
