Ed Gein was never truly engaged in real life. He did propose to Adeline Watkins, a woman he dated, but she turned him down. According to a 1957 interview with the Minneapolis Tribune, Adeline said she had dated Gein for over 20 years and that he proposed on their final date in 1955. However, she declined the proposal because she felt she couldn't live up to what he expected. Later, Adeline retracted some of her earlier claims and said their relationship was less serious, lasting about seven months on and off. There is no evidence that Ed Gein was ever actually engaged or married.
