Richard Speck was indeed known to cross-dress while in prison. After being found guilty of murder and incarcerated, there is documented evidence including video footage from 1996 that shows him cross-dressing in women's underwear and wearing lingerie. He also took estrogen pills, which led to hormone-induced changes such as enlarged breasts. This behavior may have been a survival tactic in prison or a form of self-punishment. Speck did not show embarrassment about cross-dressing and seemed to embody that role within the prison hierarchy, even reportedly engaging in sexual favors with other inmates in exchange for contraband. This aspect of his prison life is well-documented and was also portrayed in depictions of his life in media such as the Netflix series "Monster: The Ed Gein Story".
