Yesterday, October 13, 2025, Vodafone UK experienced a major nationwide outage affecting both its broadband and mobile networks, including 4G and 5G services. The outage started around 2:30 to 3:00 PM BST and left thousands of customers across the UK without internet or mobile data access. During the disruption, 2G voice calls and SMS were not affected. The company's website and customer service lines were also down or difficult to access due to the high volume of affected users. Vodafone later revealed that the cause of the blackout was a "non-malicious software issue" linked to one of their vendor partners. The network has since fully recovered and Vodafone issued an apology for the inconvenience caused. This outage came shortly after Vodafone's recent merger with Three UK, which has heightened scrutiny over network reliability. Customers affected by the outage have been urged to contact Vodafone regarding possible compensation for service disruptions lasting more than two days.
