The Maze Runner is a dystopian novel and film about a 16-year-old boy named Thomas, who wakes up with no memory in a large enclosed area called the Glade. The Glade is surrounded by a constantly changing, deadly Maze inhabited by fearsome creatures called Grievers. The boys, who also have no memories, have established a society and try to survive while searching for a way out of the Maze. Thomas becomes a Runner, one of the boys who explore the Maze daily to find an exit. The story unfolds as they face danger, uncover mysteries about their circumstances, and struggle to escape, while an organization called WICKED uses them in an experiment linked to a global apocalypse and a lethal disease known as the Flare.
