The tool used to write cuneiform was primarily a stylus made from reed. This stylus had a triangular or wedge-shaped tip that was pressed into soft, wet clay tablets to create the distinctive wedge-shaped marks characteristic of cuneiform writing. The stylus was commonly made from reeds like Arundo donax, which were abundant in ancient Mesopotamia and Syria. This tool allowed scribes to impress tiny wedge-shaped impressions into the clay, forming the basis of the cuneiform script.
