The rifleman, Lucas McCain from the TV series "The Rifleman," used a specially modified Winchester Model 1892 rifle chambered in .44-40 caliber. This rifle was a saddle ring carbine with a 20-inch barrel, modified for rapid-fire with an oversized action lever that enabled fast shooting. The rifle was famous for its quick-fire capability, with the character able to fire off a round in three-tenths of a second. The rifle was an anachronism since the show was set in 1881, but the Winchester 1892 became iconic through the series.
