When Jesus returns, according to Christian beliefs, several significant events will occur. His return will be personal, visible, and glorious. First, there will be the "Rapture," where Christians who have died will be resurrected, and living believers will be caught up to meet Him in the air, joining Him forever. This is followed by a judgment of believers, rewarding them for their faithfulness, not for salvation. Then, a time of great tribulation will come upon the earth to prepare Israel for the Messiah. After this, Jesus will return with the Church and the hosts of heaven to establish His Messianic Kingdom on earth, which lasts for a thousand years. Satan will be bound during this millennium, and Christ will reign justly and peacefully. At the end of the millennium, there will be a final rebellion which God will crush, followed by the final judgment where unbelievers are condemned. After this judgment, a new heaven and a new earth will be established where righteousness dwells, and God’s presence will be with all the redeemed.
More specifically, Jesus will return with great power and glory to cleanse the earth by fire, judge the nations by separating the righteous from the wicked, defeat evil forces at the battle of Armageddon, and set up a thousand-year reign of peace (the Millennium). At the end of the Millennium, Satan will be released briefly before being ultimately defeated and cast into the lake of fire. This will be followed by the resurrection and judgment of the wicked and the establishment of eternal destinies—eternity with God for believers and eternal separation for unbelievers.
Overall, Jesus’ return marks the full establishment of God's kingdom, the final defeat of evil, the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, and the beginning of eternal peace and restoration for creation.
