National Daughters Day has a long history in America dating back to at least 1932. Newspapers in Vermont reported that The Daughters of Union Veterans held a Daughters' Day celebration in December of that year. However, the modern form of National Daughters Day, particularly popularized for awareness and celebration in India, was revived in 2007 by Archies Limited, a greeting card company, to raise awareness about the struggles girls face in parts of India and to encourage people to show their daughters how proud they are of them. National Daughters Day is now celebrated annually on September 25 in the U.S. and other parts of the world.
