Melbourne Storm joined the National Rugby League (NRL) in 1998. The club was formed in 1997 and started playing competitively in the NRL's inaugural season in 1998 after the Super League and ARL competitions merged to form the NRL. Since then, the Storm has been part of the NRL and has become one of the league's most successful teams.
