The Boston Tea Party happened on the night of December 16, 1773. On that evening, a group of American colonists, many disguised as Mohawk Native Americans, boarded three British tea ships docked in Boston Harbor and threw 342 chests of tea into the water as a protest against British taxation without representation and the East India Company's tea monopoly.
