Lord Krishna is traditionally believed to have been born on the 8th day (Ashtami) of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, which corresponds to August-September in the Gregorian calendar. According to various calculations and Hindu tradition, Krishna's birth is dated around 3228 BCE, with some sources citing July 19 or July 20, 3228 BCE, as the date of birth. This date is celebrated as Krishna Janmashtami, marking the birth of Krishna in Mathura to Devaki and Vasudeva under the tyrant King Kamsa's imprisonment. The birth is said to have taken place around midnight, with miraculous events accompanying it. Krishna's birth is seen as the victory of good over evil and the beginning of the current age, Kali Yuga, which started around 3102 BCE.
