when was tylenol first made

Tylenol was first made and introduced in 1955 by McNeil Laboratories. The first product was Tylenol Elixir for Children, a liquid formulation marketed initially as a prescription product. It became available over the counter a few years later after Johnson & Johnson acquired McNeil in 1959.
