Port Carlisle is a coastal village in Cumberland, Cumbria, England. It lies within the civil parish of Bowness-on-Solway and is located near the coast road from Carlisle, passing through Burgh by Sands, Drumburgh, and Glasson. Originally known as Fisher's Cross, it was renamed Port Carlisle when it became the terminus of the Carlisle Canal, which connected the village to Carlisle. The canal facilitated trade and passenger traffic between Carlisle and other ports such as Liverpool and Whitehaven. Today, Port Carlisle is known for its historical significance, remains of the canal and railway, and its location near Hadrian's Wall Path.
