You can donate blood at several Australian Red Cross Lifeblood donor centres in and around central Sydney. Most require an appointment, which you can make online or by phone.

Major Sydney locations

  • Sydney Town Hall Donor Centre, 483 George Street, is a large, very central centre with long opening hours seven days a week, making it convenient if you are in the CBD or commuting through Town Hall.
  • Sydney York Street Donor Centre, near Wynyard, is also in the CBD and open extended hours on weekdays and Saturday mornings, useful if you work in the city.
  • Lifeblood Marrickville Donor Centre in the inner west offers whole blood and plasma donations with long weekday and weekend hours, good if you are based around Marrickville or the inner suburbs.
  • Lifeblood Moore Park Donor Centre near the Entertainment Quarter has good parking access and is open 7 days, which can suit people coming by car from the eastern suburbs.

How to find the closest centre

Australian Red Cross Lifeblood has an online "find a donor centre" tool where you can enter your suburb or postcode to see all nearby fixed centres and mobile drives. You can also use the Lifeblood app or call their national number to check eligibility and book a time before you go.

Before you go

Health authorities recommend checking that you are eligible, bringing ID, being well hydrated, and having eaten before donating. Plan for about an hour in total for registration, a quick health check, the donation itself, and recovery snacks afterwards.
