The first Texas Roadhouse opened on February 17, 1993, in Clarksville, Indiana at the Green Tree Mall. Although the restaurant has a Texas theme, it was founded in Indiana by Kent Taylor, a Louisville, Kentucky native, who wanted to recreate the Texas roadhouse-style dining experience he had seen during visits to Texas.
