Cîroc vodka was created by Jean-Sébastien Robicquet, a French enologist and master distiller from a family with a long history in winemaking. He founded Cîroc in 2003, bringing his expertise in wine and spirits to create a distinctive vodka made from grapes rather than grain or potatoes.
Robicquet's family has been involved in wine and spirits production for centuries, over 400 years, and the distillery where Cîroc is produced, Maison Villevert, has been in his family for over 500 years. Cîroc’s unique production process involves distilling French grapes five times to create its premium vodka.
The brand gained significant popularity in the United States after 2007 when Sean Combs (Diddy) partnered with the parent company Diageo for marketing and promotion, but the creator and master distiller of the vodka remains Jean- Sébastien Robicquet.
