who created fentanyl

Fentanyl was first synthesized by Dr. Paul Janssen in 1959. He developed it while working at Janssen Pharmaceutica in Belgium. The drug was later approved for medical use in the United States in 1968 as an intravenous anesthetic and pain medication.
