Richard Nixon's Attorney General was John N. Mitchell. He served as U.S. Attorney General from January 1969 until March 1972 during Nixon's administration. Mitchell was also the director of Nixon's successful 1968 presidential campaign and later chaired Nixon's 1972 reelection campaign. He became a controversial figure primarily due to his involvement in the Watergate scandal, for which he was convicted and served prison time.
