The ancient Greek tragedian who wrote the Oresteia is Aeschylus. The Oresteia is a trilogy consisting of Agamemnon, Libation Bearers (Choephoroi), and The Eumenides, and it is traditionally dated to the 5th century BCE, with its first performance around 458 BCE. This trilogy is the only complete surviving trilogy from ancient Greek theater and is often regarded as a foundational work in the development of dramatic form and themes such as vengeance, justice, and the transition from personal vendetta to adjudicated law.
