Daisies are toxic to cats. Many varieties of daisies contain toxic compounds such as sesquiterpene lactones and pyrethrins, which can cause mild to moderate poisoning in cats. The entire plant, including leaves, stems, flowers, and pollen, can be harmful. Symptoms of daisy poisoning in cats include vomiting, diarrhea, excessive drooling, skin irritation, loss of coordination, lethargy, and loss of appetite. While poisoning is usually not life-threatening, it can lead to significant discomfort and complications like dehydration if untreated. Immediate veterinary care is advised if a cat ingests daisies. Some types of daisies like Gerbera and African daisies are less toxic but still not recommended for cats to eat. Keeping daisies out of reach and choosing pet-safe plants are important preventative measures.
