Dogs should not be given baked beans. While plain cooked beans can be nutritious in moderation, baked beans typically contain ingredients like onions, garlic, salt, sugar, and spices that are harmful to dogs. These additives can cause gastrointestinal upset, damage to red blood cells, pancreatitis, and other health issues. The high sugar and salt content also pose risks for obesity, diabetes, and kidney and heart problems. A small accidental taste might not cause serious harm, but it is best to avoid feeding dogs baked beans altogether to prevent health risks.
