Artificer infusions are a feature in Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition that allow artificers to create semi-permanent magic items by infusing non-magical items with magical properties. Infusions can provide small mechanical benefits to existing items or create new mechanical servants. At 2nd level, artificers learn four infusions, and they continue to add more to their collection as they level up, culminating at 12 known infusions at 18th level. The maximum number of infused items an artificer can have is determined by their level and appears in the Infused Items column of the Artificer table.

Infusions last indefinitely until either the artificer dies, places the same infusion on a different item, or loses the knowledge of that infusion. An artificer can infuse more than one non-magical object at the end of a long rest, but each infusion can only be in one object at a time. All infusions require specific objects to be applied, and some require attunement.

There are over 60 different items that an artificer can get access to through infusions, but they can only use six at a time. Therefore, it is important to choose infusions carefully. Some popular infusions include Replicate Magic Item, Arcane Propulsion Armor, Item Enhancements, Helm of Awareness, Homunculus, Mind Sharpener, Radiant Weapon, Repeating Shot, and Repulsion Shield.

It is important to note that an artificer cannot apply Enhanced Arcane Focus on a weapon, and they can only apply it to the items listed in the “Prerequisites” list. Additionally, an artificer cannot have each infusion in effect more than once at a time. If an artificer plans to rely on spells like Magic Weapon, they should be cautious about applying infusions to the same weapon.
