Asia's largest sports institute is named after Netaji Subhas. It is called the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NIS) and is located in Patiala, India. The institute was renamed in January 1973 to honor Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and is the academic wing of the Sports Authority of India. It is housed in the Old Moti Bagh Palace of the erstwhile royal family of Patiala and covers an area of 268 acres.
