Australian authorities say the Bondi Beach attack was carried out by a father and son. One has been publicly identified so far.
Identified shooter
Police and intelligence sources have identified the surviving alleged gunman as 24‑year‑old Naveed Akram, a Pakistani national living in Sydney’s south‑west. He is reported to be in hospital under police guard after being critically injured during the attack and subsequent response.
Second suspect
The second alleged shooter was his 50‑year‑old father, who was a licensed firearms owner and was shot dead by police at the scene. As of the latest reports, authorities have not publicly released the father’s name, though they state they have formally identified him.
Current status
Police have stated they are not searching for any further suspects and believe the father–son pair were the only attackers involved. Officials have classified the incident as a terrorist attack that deliberately targeted a Jewish Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach.
