"Just the Way You Are" is a song by Billy Joel from his 1977 album The Stranger. It was his first US Top 10 single and also won two Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year in 1979. The song was originally written as a loving tribute to Joel's first wife, Elizabeth Weber, for her birthday. The melody and chord progression reportedly came to Joel in a dream. Despite initial reluctance from Joel and his band to include it on the album, the song became a huge success, reaching No. 3 on the US charts and topping the Billboard Easy Listening Chart for a month in early 1978. It remains one of Joel's most famous and beloved songs.
