Brandon Blackstock had melanoma, which is a serious and aggressive form of skin cancer. Melanoma originates from the skin cells called melanocytes, responsible for skin color, and is considered the most dangerous type of skin cancer because it can rapidly spread to other organs if not detected early. Despite being highly treatable when caught promptly, melanoma poses high risks due to its potential to metastasize through the bloodstream and lymphatic system. Brandon Blackstock battled melanoma privately for more than three years before passing away peacefully at his home on August 7, 2025, at the age of 48.
