Cats cannot catch a cold from humans. While cats can get cold-like symptoms caused by viruses specific to them, such as feline herpesvirus and feline calicivirus, these viruses are different from the viruses that cause colds in humans. Humans and cats do not transmit these cold viruses to each other. Rarely, cats can catch certain types of flu viruses from humans, but this is not common and cats cannot catch the typical human cold virus. If a cat has cold symptoms, it is from a feline-specific infection, not from a human cold.
