Cats can eat peaches in small amounts, but only the flesh and never the pit, leaves, or stem. The peach pit contains cyanide, which is toxic and can cause choking or intestinal blockage, making it very dangerous for cats. Peach skin may contain harmful pesticide residues and high fiber that might upset a cat's stomach, so it should be removed. Peaches are high in natural sugars that cats cannot metabolize well and too much sugar may lead to health problems like diabetes and obesity. Hence, peaches should only be given as an occasional treat in small, bite-sized, pit-free pieces. Peach-flavored foods, canned peaches, peach juice, and dried peaches should be avoided because of added sugars, preservatives, or concentrated sugars which can harm cats.
