Humans can get ear mites from cats, but it is very rare. Ear mites prefer to live on animals like cats and dogs, and while they can occasionally transfer to humans, this usually causes only minor irritation or a rash. Symptoms in humans may include ear itchiness, redness around the ear, dark ear wax, ear irritation, and sometimes tinnitus or a feeling of pressure in the ear. However, ear mites do not thrive well on humans and typically do not cause serious infections. Good hygiene and treatment of infected pets can prevent spread to humans.
