The capital of Colombia is Bogotá. It is the largest and most populous city in the country, situated in central Colombia in a fertile upland basin about 2,640 meters (8,660 feet) above sea level in the Andes Mountains. Bogotá is the political, economic, cultural, and educational center of Colombia and houses the main offices of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. It is also a key hub for commerce, finance, and air travel in the country.
