Coldplay is a British rock band that was formed in London in 1996. The members met while attending University College London, where lead vocalist and pianist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland started the band. Bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion joined shortly thereafter, completing the group. They initially used different names such as Pectoralz and Starfish before settling on Coldplay around 1998. The band is from London, England, and has since become one of the most successful music acts globally.
