Daktacort cream is a medicine used for the topical treatment of inflamed dermatoses where infection by susceptible organisms and inflammation co-exist, such as intertrigo and infected eczema. It contains two active ingredients: miconazole nitrate 2% w/w, which is an antifungal, and hydrocortisone 1% w/w, which is a corticosteroid.
Positive aspects:
- Daktacort cream is effective in treating inflamed dermatoses where infection by susceptible organisms and inflammation co-exist.

Negative aspects:
- Daktacort cream contains benzoic acid, which may cause local irritation and increase jaundice in newborn babies up to 4 weeks old.
- It also contains butylated hydroxanisole, which may cause local skin reactions, such as contact dermatitis, or irritation to the eyes and mucous membranes.
- Contact should be avoided between latex products such as contraceptive diaphragms or condoms and Daktacort Hydrocortisone cream since the constituents of Daktacort may damage the latex.
