Cats do indeed dream. Scientific research shows that cats experience REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, the sleep phase during which dreaming occurs in humans and many other mammals. During this phase, cats may twitch their paws, whiskers, or eyes, showing signs that they are actively dreaming. The content of their dreams likely relates to their daily activities, such as hunting, playing, or interacting with other cats and their environment. Kittens tend to have more REM sleep and probably dream more than adult cats. The presence of REM sleep and observed behaviors strongly suggest that cats' brains process experiences similarly to humans during sleep, leading to dreaming.
